Freak Show Red Blend

Review By Eric Tansey, CSW, Sommelier

The Freak Show Red Blend is dark and inky purple with a very heavy stain on the glass slow, fat tears. Yes, this wine will stain your teeth! Powerful aromas of black fruits, mainly blackberries, with molasses, vanilla, and caramel. The Freak Show Red Blend is a freak indeed. The nose alone is so intriguing that I can’t get the glass away from my nose. It is like staring at that pierced up guy or girl that has rings and plugs all through their face and you can’t look away. The senses are overwhelmed, and intrigued!

On the palate the wine has a full body mouthfeel. With big, luscious and almost over-the-top fruit characteristics. If you are into jam fests, then here you go! The oak is equally as over the top as the fruit. This wine is a freak…but it is on a bit of a leash. It’s a freak on a leash! It is well made and corners were not cut in the winemaking practice. This wine is more than your typical Apothic Red or other over-the-top blends because the Freak Show does have a leash. There is balance and order amidst the chaos! It has fresh, good fruit, and layered complexities from the use of expensive oak barrels. This is a definite crowd pleaser for any fan of California red wines. Cheers!

From the Winery

Next up on the center stage is a FREAK like no other. Prepare your eyes and your tastebuds for disbelief!

Like Bosco himself, our Freakshow Red is a mash-up of man meets wild! Syrah’s untamed and mysterious allure is refined and polished with the addition of Petite Sirah and just a splash of Souzao!

Aromas of Blackberry cobbler, toasted walnuts, espresso bean and hints of brandy. The wine is weighty with a velvet-like texture boasting flavors of ripe brambleberry jam, toffee, and dark chocolate mousse followed by wisps

of pipe tobacco and mesquite.

An exceptional offering that displays the undeniable brut of Lodi Syrah and Petite Sirah.
