GR-174 Priorat Spain Red Blend

Review by Eric Tansey, CSW, Sommelier
The GR-174 Priorat Spain Red Blend has moderate-plus aromas of raspberry, tart cherry, clay, and vanilla. This wine is inky in color with a heavy stain and heavy tears/legs on the glass. The wine has inviting aromas and the color alone lets you know that this wine means business.

On the front of the palate, the GR-174 Priorat Spain Red Blend has dark cherry, black cherry and berry characteristics that meld smoothly with leather, dust, and earth on the mid-palate. The wine has medium-plus tannins that coat the sides of the mouth and bright acidity that brings some old world back bone to a more modern style of big fruity wine. This combination of fruit, earth, tannin, and acidity really brings a fantastic balance to this rugged beauty and is a great expression of Priorat, Spain. Cheers!

From the winery

GR-174 is the lovely path that crosses Priorat. Hiking all along this track is probably the best way to feel its beauty. If you could concentrate in a bottle the ripe fruits aromas and the minerality of its terroir the result would be a wine like this.

From the Wine Maker

Deep cherry red with some violet reflections. Red and black fruit aromas, with some mineral and balsamic notes. Fresh. In the mouth it is a meaty, silky, well-balanced wine. Round and complex. Sweet, elegant tannins.
