Rod Cabernet Sauvignon

Review by Eric Tansey, CSW                                                                                                                         The Rod Cabernet Sauvignon has moderate aromas of blackberry, green bell pepper and wet clay. On the palate the wine has a medium-plus bodied mouthfeel, with fresh black berry, currant, and licorice on the front of the palate. The mid palate has a little green pepper, that is subtle but noticeable and quickly masked by an earthy, wet clay finish. The high acidity and high tannin save the wine, giving it an edge and a little balance to counter the big fruit at the beginning. The finish is pleasant and the wine opens up with each glass. I recommend decanting this wine for thirty minutes or longer. Cheers!

From the Winemaker  Rodolfo Sadler AKA Opi or Rod

I took my first steps as a winemaker 27 years ago. My decision to become a winemaker was partly influenced by my family’s winemaking tradition and their passion for wine. As a little boy, I used to see my grandfather and father engaged in their winemaking tasks and I always wished I could one day make my own wines of which to feel proud.

The wines of Mascota Vineyards are the outcome of that dream. They have my personal imprint and are a testimony of my life story. When you put passion and enthusiasm into what you do, your dream will know no boundaries and earn you international recognition.
