Review by Eric Tansey, CSW, Sommelier                                                                                                                    The Messenger Red #1 has powerful and elegant aromas of blackberry, tobacco, and dark cocoa. On the front of the palate the wine exudes big, blackberry characteristics that are quickly softened by the more complex and structured notes of tobacco, black soil, and very subtle oak.

The Messenger Red #1 is almost perfectly balanced with big fruit, earth, and phenolics. Blindly, I called this wine as a high end red blend from Northern California. The wine in fact is a confusing and complex blended masterpiece out of Napa Valley. Perfectly layered wine that keeps the palate and all of your senses entertained, similar to a Jackson Pollock that entices both the eye and mind. The layers of varietals, vintages and vineyards meld together in this stunning wine that is priced, unbelievably, at under $20.  Cheers! The Messenger Red #1

A dramatic, full-flavored and full-bodied red from a small, adventurous Napa-based winery. It offers cedar and tobacco aromas, fresh dark cherry flavors, and good depth and concentration. Strong and generous, this wine is looking to have a good time with you at the dinner table.  – J.G.
