W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout
Review by Eric Tansey, CSW, Sommelier
W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout is a very dark beer that is black in color. The beer has a beautiful, brown, three finger, pillowy head. Powerful aromas of rich coffee bean, sweet cocoa, and subtle cola lift from the glass.
On the palate, the W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout has a full body mouth feel with frothy bubbles that quickly coat the sides of the mouth with a thick layer of sweet oats and dry cocoa. The mid palate brings rich coffee and subtle lactose, similar to a good mocha cappuccino. The finish is tied together by the sweet oats, dry chocolate, and bitter coffee bean.
A balanced beer with all the finer things in this world. Terrapin has taken “beer for breakfast” to a whole new level with this fantastic brew. Cheers.

What is an Imperial Stout?
Imperial stouts are beefed up stouts, which in turn, are simply beefed up porters. Made with roasted malts and barley, these beers are high in alcohol content at about 8% and above. Characteristics often include dry chocolate, earth, bitter black coffee, tobacco, and licorice. These beers are great for aging and will often mellow out and become more balanced over time. Cheers! About the Beer: Two Athens, GA companies, Terrapin and Jittery Joes, have teamed up to create a unique blend of coffee: Wake-n-Bake. We then use the blend in our W-n-B Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout.
Pair with: Cheese 1 or Cheese 2, or this should be a nice food pairing or two that is fairly specific and somewhat playful. It should set a mood as much as describe an actual meal. http://terrapinbeer.com/portfolio-item/wake-n-bake/
