Review by Eric Tansey, CSW,Sommelier The Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon is produced by one of the oldest and smallest distilleries in Kentucky. Originally founded in 1812, the distillery still produces exceptional bourbon from inside the same walls as it did over 200 years ago. On the nose, the bourbon offers rich aromas of vanilla, caramel, tobacco and light roasted grain. On the front of the palate, the bourbon is very rich with caramel and vanilla leading the charge. On the mid palate, dried green apple, roasted pecans, and a faint hint of dried raisin. Not quite Trail Mix but I’m ready for a hike on the Blue Ridge. The finish is warm and a bit lush, with continuing caramel, leaving dried cocoa and dried tobacco leaves on the breath. Cheers!
